Out of Orbit is an original rock band formed in Blacksburg,
Virginia and currently residing in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Originally conceived in April, 2002 and hypnotizing audiences with
their blend of ponderous, unyielding rock ever since, Out of Orbit
casts a very distinct vision that challenges the stereotype of what
rock music is perceived as today. In two years the group has been
converging creative forces and emerged with an impressive and
ever-growing repertoire in a considerably small amount of time.
Already yielding more than an album’s worth of material, Out of
Orbit is constantly and consistently composing their brand of
riff-ready rock.
Their sound is evincive of their influences, from Pink Floyd and
the Smashing Pumpkins to Rush and Alice in Chains. Simultaneously,
the sound is bound by no genres, no formulas, and no “rock and roll
facade.”
The sound is formed around a melodic and memorable bass line,
laying the groundwork for a sonic assault of belligerent drums,
atmospheric guitar work, and the plenary ingredient of pensive
lyrics. As soon as something seems familiar, Out of Orbit is
consciously switching it up, making their music captivating and
enthralling to hear live. Regardless of environment, Out of Orbit
embodies the dedication necessary to put their every effort into
every measure of every song.
The fans of their live show finally have something to take home
with them in the group’s independently released debut EP “A Wake In
Understanding.” Featuring six tracks totaling nearly 40 minutes,
including “Synapse,” “Parallel In One Blood,” and “Blue Void,” this
EP is a worthy representation of Out of Orbit and their sound.
However, to capture their true intelligence and earnestness, it
takes a glimpse into the live spectacle.
